St. Cloud Carefree Living is looking for a Social Services Assistant to join our growing and established Assisted Living community in St. Cloud, MN. We offer rewarding employment, resident-centered care, a team environment, and professional development with a dependable health care company.

Carefree Living is a division of Spectrum Health Companies - a Minnesota-based, statewide, community health care provider of Assisted Living, Memory Care, Home Care and Independent Living services.

SCHEDULE: Part-time position available, varying from 20-25 hours per week. Hours will be scheduled to meet the needs of the community; includes occasional evenings and weekends if an activity is scheduled.


The Social Services Assistant (SSA) assists in the coordination of psychosocial needs of residents. The position develops and implements programs and special events, providing socialization and entertainment, thereby contributing to the best quality of life for each resident. The SSA may also provide clerical support to the organization.


  • A minimum of two years of experience in an activities department, preferably within and assisted living facility. Prior experience working with elderly/disabled adults. Prior experience working with and recruiting volunteers.
  • Display creativity and imagination in planning the activities each month. Able to adapt games, crafts, etc. for all residents to participate.
  • Excellent conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and accurately follow through on work activities to meet timelines as well as to work independently with a minimum amount of direction and/or
  • Demonstrate regard for the dignity, respect, and confidentiality of all residents, family members, and visitors at all times as defined in the philosophy and values of the
  • Ability to listen and communicate clearly, fluently, and diplomatically orally and in writing in the English language; also, to maintain excellent interpersonal and cooperative relationships with management, staff, residents, and residents'
  • Ability to remain flexible, resilient, calm, maintain a sense of humor and to regularly present a well-groomed, professional image.
