Accounts Payable Specialist

POSITION PURPOSE:

To provide accurate and timely company-wide accounts payable support to the Management Team and coordinate those activities with all other company offices. Professionally assist and nurture effective working relations with all management, employees, clients, vendors, referral sources and the public.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1)Manage accounts payable functions including: coding and processing invoices received from vendors; add new vendors as appropriate. Ensure that rents, leases, health insurances and other regular liabilities are paid accurately and in a timely manner while maximizing the company's cash flow position. Print A/P aging biweekly, have invoices approved to pay, process checks and mail.
2) Develop, evaluate and review on a regular basis policies, procedures and practices for accounts payable functions to maintain compliance with regulations, requirements and standards and recommend modifications.
3) Respond to questions and calls from managers, other departments and staff in interpreting accounts payable invoices, statements and variances or refer to appropriate persons.
4) Understand the strategy, vision and expansion model of the organization including a basic understanding of home health care; be aware of and help to enforce organizational policies and best practice procedures.
5) Consistently support the general direction, initiatives and specific final decisions of the Management team in all aspects of the business; use influence sensitively to garner cooperation of management and coworkers.
6) Generate goodwill for the organization and its management among staff, clients, suppliers, referral sources, regulatory bodies, the general community and others pertinent to the business; assist all persons who phone and/or enter the office in a polite, respectful and helpful manner to ensure positive relationships.
7) Prepare correspondence, reports and databases to meet necessary deadlines using available computer hardware and software and other office machines; maintain organized, up-to-date files and treat information acquired in course of work confidentially and responsibly.
8) Develop and maintain a procedures manual for the position as well as a year-at-a-glance listing of all responsibilities to ensure time-specific functions are prepared for and met in the normal course of business, and not "crisis" mode.
9) Perform other functions as deemed appropriate by the Management Team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration or an equivalent of demonstrated five years' experience in a small to mid-sized company.

EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of five years' accounting experience in a professional fast-paced office, preferably within the health care industry.
