Controller

This position exists to provide the direction, leadership and day-to-day management of Spectrum Health Companies, finance, accounting, payroll and computer systems in order to meet the internal and external information and reporting needs and contribute to the financial success for the
organization.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Oversee the development, implementation and modification of corporate wide computer systems and software applications to ensure all user information needs are met in a timely and accurate manner.
• Develop and implement corporate-wide budget system. Train users and monitor budget systems to ensure company resources are expended consistent with budgets. Establish individual financial goals/priorities and collectively meet the financial goals. Act as coach and teacher to line managers to contribute to their understanding and performance on financial issues.
• Oversee the compilation of all required financial reports and statements in a timely manner to meet internal management and external reporting requirements.
• Ensure the timely and accurate billing of all services Spectrum provides to all pay sources in order to minimize cash receipt delays and improve cash flow.
• Establish accounts receivable goals with specific collection plans to ensure payments are received in a timely manner.
• Oversee the treasury management function thereby providing for adequate capital needs and cash flow funding for the company's operating needs.
• Provide direction and support to the payroll function to ensure timely and accurate payroll checks are prepared and delivered, minimizing employee concern.
• Provide systems that authorize, track and monitor company expenditures allowing accurate accounts payable checks to be disbursed in concert with cash flow needs and avoiding finance charges.
• Complete periodic and annual tax planning to ensure optimal financial success is achieved. Prepare and file timely tax returns and all related reports.
• Develop and maintain a procedures manual for the position as well as a year-at-a-glance listing of activities and responsibilities to ensure time-specific functions are prepared for and met in the normal course of business.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in accounting; preferably master's degree in finance; current Certified Professional Accountant.
EXPERIENCE:
Seven to ten years of progressively responsible public accounting or applicable industry experience with a keen
working knowledge of financial and tax theory and practice, preferably within the health care industry.
